THE FERVIDA TRIO
The Fervida Trio (named for the Latin “passionate”) – Karina Tseng, piano, Sean Mori, violin, and Angeline Kiang, cello – worked together from 2017 to 2020 under the Young Chamber Musicians program, a pre-college chamber music training program in association with Music at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, California. Their premier accomplishments include becoming the first piano trio in eleven years to be awarded the Junior Strings Gold Medal at the 2019 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. They were also the first ensemble from Northern California to win the junior division. In addition, they won first prize awards at the 2019 Pasadena Conservatory Chamber Music Competition (as well as the Andrew Cook Beethoven Special Prize) and 2018 Galante Prize Competition. Their principal coaches were YCM Director and violist Susan Bates and pianist Jeffrey LaDeur.
The Fervida Trio has appeared in numerous recitals and in masterclasses with the Morgenstern Trio, Henschel Quartett, Miró Quartet, Trio con brio Copenhagen, and pianist Rohan De Silva. In 2019, they appeared at the San Francisco International Piano Festival and were showcased at InterMusic SF’s San Francisco Music Day. The trio also traveled to Portland, Maine to record Episode #379 on the popular NPR classical music showcase radio program “From The Top”. The program aired on December 16, 2019, and can be found on Spotify, Soundcloud, or on From the Top’s website.
